Dr. Yates is an experienced clinician, with over 16 years in practice as a licensed Naturopathic doctor. Her patient treatment areas focus on chronic illnesses, including heart health, high blood pressure, cholesterol problems, diabetes, digestion and gut problems (IBS, Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis), depression and mood disorders, weight loss, HCG Reset Your Metabolism Program, allergies, asthma, eczema, psoriasis, sleep concerns and sleep apnea, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and stress relief. Specific areas within women’s health include treatment for abnormal PAP smears, menstrual problems, and menopausal problems. Children with chronic health concerns are well served to get treatment early in their lives; this includes ADD, ADHD, failure to thrive, along with allergy, skin and asthma problems. Supportive care is offered for patients facing a cancer diagnosis, including specific IV (intravenous) nutrients and supplements to boost immune system function. State of the art lab testing is used where indicated to help identify causes of illness and a personalized treatment plan is created to address desired health goals. Treatments and therapies used include clinical nutrition, supplements, herbs, nutraceuticals, homeopathy and bio-identical hormones. IV nutrient therapies are used for faster healing response times and in situations where the gut’s digestive function is compromised (e.g. high blood pressure, chronic fatigue, glaucoma, blindness/losing eye sight, cancer support, enhancing athletic performance, dehydration, nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (hyperemesis gravidarum)
Dr. Yates is the author of Heart Health for Black Women: A Natural Approach to Healing and Preventing Heart Disease, Marlowe & Co., 2000. She is also a contributing author to the medical textbook Maternal, Newborn and Child Nursing – A Family Centered Approach, Prentice Hall/Pearson Publications, 2003. Dr. Yates is an experienced public speaker, and a national TV and radio personality. She was recently featured on the PBS American Health Journal TV show on Naturopathic Medicine on the Heart Disease and Diabetes segment. Dr. Yates has appeared on broadcast TV on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox News, and been on the NPR Point of View, Sirius Satellite International Medicine and CNN Medicine and Health radio programs.
Dr. Yates is on the Scientific Advisory Board for BSP Pharma, Inc. and is a former member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Enzymatic Therapy, Inc. and Integrative Therapeutics, Inc., as well as a former Media Representative for Enzymatic Therapy, Inc.
Dr. Yates served as Residency Director for the first ever fully accredited Naturopathic and Integrative Medicine Residency in the state of California. She is a graduate of the National College of Natural Medicine (http://www.NCNM.edu), where she obtained her ND degree. As a graduate of MIT (http://www.mit.edu), Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, she uses her analytical and problem solving skills to help people resolve their chronic health problems. She continues to be an advocate for increased health awareness among the general public and holistic approaches to health care among other licensed health professionals.
